UPDATED: Tractor trailer accident causing major delays on Interstate 77 in Carroll County

All lanes have reopened and the accident has been cleared.

UPDATE 1:10 p.m.:

Drivers should still expect major delays due to a tractor trailer accident on Interstate 77 near the Route 69 exit in Carroll County.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, traffic backups are approximately 8 miles. The north right lane is closed.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

Virginia state police say no one was hurt in the accident. They say the truck was hauling  lumber when it overturned.

UPDATED 7:22 a.m.:  The Virginia Department of Transportation says one lane of Interstate 77 in Carroll County is now open again near the scene of a tractor trailer accident.

Motorists should still expect delays in the area near the Route 69 exit.  Delays are now said to be as much as six miles long.

A tractor trailer accident in Carroll County is affecting Friday morning traffic on Interstate 77.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says the wreck has both northbound lanes closed near the Route 69 exit. There are no detours at this time.

Virginia state police say no one was hurt in the accident. They say the truck was hauling  lumber when it overturned.

Drivers should be aware of a three mile backup.
