UPDATE: Name released in fatal tractor-trailer accident in Amherst Co.

A tractor-trailer driver died in a crash in Amherst County Friday morning.

AMHERST, Va. -

Virginia State Police have identified the tractor-trailer driver who died in an accident Friday in Amherst County.

Leroy Haywood of Greensboro, N.C., was killed in the accident on Route 130. He was 41.

The crash is still under investigation.

Public safety officials say a tractor-trailer driver died in Amherst County Friday morning, following an accident on Route 130.

According to Amherst County's public safety director, Gary Roakes, the truck driver was heading west on Route 130 when he hit a passenger car.  Roakes said the truck, which was carrying corrugated material, left the road and went down a 35-foot ravine.

Barbara Lloyd, 63, of Monroe, was driving a Honda. She was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital.  Roakes said her injuries were not life-threatening.

The accident happened around 9:43 a.m., at the intersection of Route 130 (Elon Road) and Route 635 (Buffalo Springs Turnpike).  Route 635 will remain closed until 8 p.m. tonight as crews work to remove wreckage of the truck.
