UPDATE: Tractor trailer crash on Route 220 in Roanoke County cleared

The tractor trailer was headed northbound when it crashed near Willow Branch road on Route 220 in Roanoke County Monday morning.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. -

UPDATE 11:15 a.m.: All lanes have reopened after police and emergency crews worked all morning to remove a wrecked tractor trailer from the median of U.S. Route 220 in Roanoke County.

The truck was headed northbound when it crashed around 6:30 a.m.  The driver was not hurt.

The wreck took place near Willow Branch Road,  close to the Roanoke County/Franklin County line.  Police say a crane was needed to remove the truck.

Police and emergency crews say it could take several more hours to remove a wrecked tractor trailer from U.S. Route 220 in Roanoke County.

The truck was headed northbound when it crashed into the median around 6:30 a.m.  The driver was not hurt.

Police say that one lane of Route 220 will be closed in each direction while crews work to remove the tractor trailer from the median.  The crash is near Willow Branch Road, close to the Roanoke County/Franklin County line.  Police say a crane is needed to remove the truck.

Motorist are advised to take alternate routes.
