A man and woman from Rocky Mount were arrested on meth-related charges Tuesday.

According to a news release, this was the fifth suspected methamphetamine lab raided by the Office of the Sheriff in Franklin County within the past ten days.

Terry Hodges, 30, and Tammy Sue Jones-Smith, 50, both face charges of manufacture, sale, possession of a controlled substance and are both being held without bond.

Around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, investigators with the Office of the Sheriff in Franklin County executed a search warrant of a home on Tripple Creek Road section of Franklin County near Rocky Mount.

The raid was in reference to the manufacturing of meth. Both Terry Hodges and Tammy Sue Jones-Smith were present in the home at the time of the search, along with four other adults.

During the raid, chemical components associated with the manufacture of meth began to react, causing a concern of fire inside the home. The Franklin County Department of Public Safety, Rocky Mount Fire Department, Glade Hill Fire Department and Franklin County Rescue Squad were called to help as a safety precaution.

Franklin County investigators were assisted in the investigation by the Virginia State Police Tactical Team and Virginia State Police Special Agents.

Precursor chemicals and items indicative of a meth manufacturing lab were seized in the search.

Investigations of all five suspected meth lab raids within the past ten days are ongoing.

Anyone with information related to meth manufacturing or other drug offenses should contact the Office of the Sheriff at 540-484-3000.
