War hero who died in Southwest Virginia receives new honors

A war hero and Hollywood star who died in southwest Virginia more than 40 years ago is receiving new honors.

A monument to Audie Murphy stands on Brushy Mountain in Craig County, where his plane went down in May, 1971.

Six people died on May 28th, 1971, when the small plane crashed in the mountainous terrain.

Murphy was a Medal of Honor winner and one of the most-decorated American soldiers in World War II.

Now, his home state of Texas is expected to honor him with its own Medal of Honor.
