Cave Spring vs. Salem

SALEM, Va. -

Salem hosted Cave Spring this week and the Spartans were in an unfamiliar spot, losers of two straight games for the first time in the Stephen Magenbauer era as head coach.  But the Spartans HAD won 11 of the past 14 meetings against the Knights.

Salem's first possession went like clockwork.  Austin Coulling found Tyler Gladden who shook a tackle for a nice 19 yard gain.

Two plays later Coulling found Isaiah Parker in the endzone for a Spartan touchdown giving Salem a 7-0 lead.

Parker was catching the pass again a few minutes later but this time on defense when he intercepted Alex Emery's pass on the 5 yard line. But Salem couldn't capitalize, they gave it right back on a fumble.

Jon Roach cashed in for the Knights on a 6 yd run for a Cave Spring TD but the PAT was no good. 7-6 Salem.

Coulling and Parker connected again later in the first half, this time from 20 yds out on a HUGE catch in the end-zone.

Coulling had three first half TD passes.  And the Spartans end a two game skid, cruising past Cave Spring 42 to 6 giving Magenbauer his 100th win.
