Fort Chiswell vs. Galax

GALAX, Va. -

Coach Stephen James and the Fort Chiswell Pioneers made quite a statement by winning on the road at Thomasville, North Carolina this week. On Friday night the Pioneers continued a four-game road swing by making the trip to Galax for a Mountain Empire showdown.

The Galax cheerleaders were ready for their Maroon tide at home.

We pick it up the in the 1st the Pioneers up a score when Steven Peoples hurdles a defender and gallops to the pylon for a Galax score and we're tied at 7.

Peoples was looking to do it again up the gut when the pigskin pops free and the Pioneer's Taylor Gilman does the old pick up fumble and run play 65 yards to the painted grass. 20 to 7 Pioneers still in the 1st.

The Fort Chiswell offense does its part as Patrick Beidleman busts through the line towards the goal line but gets pushed out of bounds just short.

On the next play Beidleman finished the drive now 28 - 14 in the second.

Galax looking to answer at the end of the first half when Carson Orton finds Brett Isom and he hauls it in, avoids tacklers and sneaks into the endzone for 67 yards.

But it wasn't enough Fort Chiswell picks up a big road win 49 to 28 over Galax.
