Lord Botetourt hits the field for first day of practice

Today was the first day teams were allowed to practice, and one team out there early in the morning was Lord Botetourt.

BOTETOURT CO., Va. -

As the calendar turns to August, it's time for high school football teams to hit the field.

Thursday was the first day teams were allowed to practice and one team out early in the morning was Lord Botetourt.

The Cavaliers finished last season 6-and-5 with a loss to William Byrd in the playoffs to end the season.

Last season was their first trip to the playoffs since 2008 in Head Coach Jamie Harless' first season.

Now with one year under his belt, Harless says the team has bought into the program but there's still plenty to learn before the season kicks off.
