Virginia Tech's Logan Thomas was named the ACC's Offensive Back of the Week while David Wang is the conference's Offensive Lineman of the Week for their efforts in the Hokies win over Miami Saturday.
It was a measure of vindication for an offense that had made too many mistakes in back to back losses. But now the Hokies are right back in the thick of the ACC race with Maryland up next.
One of the main reasons was the play of Logan Thomas, who was embraced with a bear hug by his offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler following Saturday night’s win.
“He said he was extremely proud of me and that I had endured a lot of stuff the last two weeks,” said Thomas. “He said this is the biggest game I’ve ever seen one of my quarterbacks play.”
“He played phenomenally,” said David Wang. “We came in together as freshmen and we lived together in the same dorm. Just seeing him have such a good game makes me happy.”
The Brookville graduate became the first VT Quarterback to throw for 300 yards in back-to-back games and moved into first place on the Hokies’ career passing touchdown list with 49 in his career.
Thomas is one of 14 seniors who will play their final home game Saturday. A class that’s won 35 games, played in two ACC Championship games, won a conference title and will make its 4th straight bowl appearance at the end of the year.
