Despite not playing, the Hokies debuted at No. 14 in the first BCS standings of the season and begin the stretch run Saturday against Duke.

BLACKSBURG, Va. -

Virginia Tech is refreshed after a week off and ready for the stretch run.

The 16th-ranked Hokies (6-1, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) will put their six-game winning streak on the line Saturday against Duke (5-2, 1-2) at Lane Stadium.

Quarterback Logan Thomas says it's hard to sit on the sidelines on a football Saturday, but the time away was beneficial. Thomas says his injured right foot feels better, and his throwing arm feels live again.

Coach Frank Beamer says during the week off the Hokies addressed little issues that have slowed their running game. He also warned his team about Duke, saying "you just turn the video on" know how dangerous the Blue Devils can be.

Duke fell behind Virginia 22-0 on Saturday and rallied to win 35-22.

The Blue Devils have scored 70 points in the last two games, and despite the fact that the Hokies have won 12 straight in the series, Beamer is wary of the Devils firepower.
