The James River Knights are coming-off their first winning season since 2007, and are not only looking to defend their Pioneer District title, but they've also got their sights set on doing something the Knights football team has never done-- win a playoff game.

"Our main goal is we want to win a playoff game. They've never won a playoff game here at James River High School," said head coach Philip King. "We've been to the playoffs three times. We lost to Giles. We lost to Fort Chiswell and then lost to Giles again. It's time to get over that hump and that's what we're working for right now."

Although the Knights lost 3-quarters of their skill position players including uarterback, Kyle King, senior Sherman Austin brings some game experience from last year under center, and should have the chance to thrive behind a solid offensive line.
