Liberty University’s football team will open the 2014 season against North Carolina, the school announced in a news release Thursday.
The Tar Heels will host the Flames on Aug. 30 at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C. It will be the first-ever meeting between Liberty and UNC.
It will be the third time in the past four years that Liberty has opened its football season against an ACC opponent. The Flames opened up against N.C. State in 2011 and Wake Forest in 2012.
The remainder of Liberty’s 2014 schedule will be released at a later time.
