Magna Vista vs. Bassett

BASSETT, Va. -

This week in Henry County at Ed Bassett Stadium Magna Vista tried to finish the district sweep against the Bengals.  The Warriors looked like a dangerous playoff team in 3A West.

The Bengals were representing with an actual Bengal tiger for good luck. That was Bam Bam from a North Carolina zoo.

Magna Vista gained yardage in chunks early on. Near the 40 yard line, Shoalin McGuire to Jacqez Hairston. Hairston outran the defense on the house call. And Magna Vista had the first score of the night.

Then it was Bassett's turn.  Freshman quarterback Dylan McKinney got bumped by his teammates and fumbled the ball.   But the Bengals got it back.

On the next play, McKinney attempted to throw to Devontae Wimbush, but it was intercepted by Magna Vista's Jonathan Morris. He headed the other way before stepping out at the 20 yard line.

Two plays later from the five it was Chanco Estes. Estes ran up the gut and into the endzone. Magna Vista shut out Bassett 54 to nothing.
