BLACKSBURG, Va. -

Virginia Tech announced Thursday that five Hokies are injured, including a season-ending injury for outside linebacker Ronny Van Dyke and a career-ending ACL tear for running back Tony Gregory.

Gregory has re-torn his left ACL.  Tech trainer Mike Goforth says Gregory will evaluate his options, but his career at Tech is effectively over.

Van Dyke's shoulder injury requires surgery, and he'll miss the remainder of the season. Goforth says they're waiting to get a surgical plan, but he'll be out six to eight months. He'll be out for the season and will be probable for spring.

Offensive lineman Mark Shuman has a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee. Tech says they hope to do surgery early next week, and will discuss a plan with Shuman's parents. There's a four to six week recovery period for the injury.

J.C. Coleman and Augie Conte are also on the injured list. Coleman has a left high ankle sprain and a right ankle sprain. Goforth says they hope he'll be back in time for the Alabama game.

Conte also suffered an ankle sprain in his left ankle and is expected back Monday, with a possibility of participating in Saturday's scrimmage.
