Cooking Matters who organized the event is part of the national No Kid Hungry campaign, that's working to help end childhood hunger in America.  The group here meets for about two hours.  They spent that time learning how to prepare and make the new dishes.

On the menu, spinach quesadillas and black bean and corn salsa.   The program teaches it teaches participants how to spread their grocery dollars out,  realize  they don't have to have meat in every meal and find out it's easy and fast to cook a meal instead of going to fast food restaurants.

Now to top it all off the group made Honey Ambrosia for dessert.
