More than 1,000 children are in Virginia's foster care system waiting to be adopted.
State leaders are hoping a new campaign will help find them a home.
On July 1, the state started its 100 days, 100 kids social media campaign. A different Virginia foster child is featured each day on Twitter and Facebook.
The goal is to match 1,000 children in foster care with adoptive families.
"We've seen it get shared, retweeted, and in today's world of technology, it's a good way to let people know about the kids we have waiting," Resource Family Consultant Chasity Fitzpatrick said.
Two events in our area are planned to help families learn more about the adoption process.
The first is next Monday at the Botetourt Center at Greenfield in Daleville from 6 pm to 8 pm.The other is next Tuesday at Frith Hall at Averett University in Danville from 6pm to 8pm.
